TGI Fridays

- Hospitality / Restaurant
- Location
- Central Belt
- Scope
- Blackout window film to full restaurant shopfront glazing
The brief
The TGI Fridays unit sits within a period stone frontage, with tall shopfront windows either side of the entrance doors running down to a panelled stallriser. As part of a refit, the glazing needed to be fully screened — hiding the stripped-back interior during the works and giving the finished restaurant controlled light and privacy from the street, all without altering the historic shopfront itself.
What we did
- Step 1
Fitted every shopfront pane — the tall windows flanking the entrance and the door vision panels — with a full blackout film, taking the glass to a deep, uniform black that reads as part of the dark painted joinery.
- Step 2
Cut and trimmed each pane individually to the original glazing beads, keeping edges tight and consistent across the varying pane sizes of the traditional frontage.
- Step 3
Worked around the existing signage, projecting sign and door furniture, leaving the 'TGI FRIDAYS' illuminated fascia and striped canopy detail untouched and fully visible.
- Step 4
Wet-applied the film in sections around trading hours, so the unit stayed presentable to passing footfall throughout the refit period.
The result
The glazing now reads as a clean black backdrop behind the illuminated signage — the interior is fully screened from the street, the refit could proceed out of sight, and the period frontage is unchanged and undamaged.
